Bakara Self-help group

Self-help is a means of improving the life style of the societies economically, intellectually and emotionally through psychological basis. Since the aftermath of the civil war here in Mogadishu there were many different self-help group programs established in Bakara market. Each of these groups has its own focus, techniques and associated beliefs.

One of these groups named itself as Bakara Self-help Jewelry was founded in the jewelry center of the Bakara market. Members of the group are women who tried to improve the life by buying and reselling the jewelry. They have put forth a great effort and utilized a well-organized teams who created a fully populated market where you can find different jewelries from the different parts of the world – i.e. from Europe to East Assia, and from the middle east to east Africa.
